"This is a very clever book. It is full of really witty poems and limericks and rhymes. The topics range from roller coasters, messy kids rooms, food, flowers, quirky people, insects, absurd situations…. everything under the sun! There are many puns & clever word plays (after a falling out the roses were "buds" again). While wide ranging and unique, the individual offerings tend to end with some sort of "capper" or clever thought that is like a verbal, baddah boom cymbal crash. That adds to the fun. Tongue twisters abound also. I'm not exactly sure what age group this book targets. It's not for very very young readers and actually could range all the way to adults - or certainly teens. If read to (or by) younger readers, many phrases or word plays will need explanation - but what a great opportunity for interplay and learning! I'm not crazy about the illustrations as for me they tend to be on the quick sketchy side of the art spectrum, but they do fulfill their purpose so I suppose that gives them all the cred they need really. To me this book is great for a young teen or perhaps as a sharing book,where a parent and child can share a giggle. If my child was still little, this is the kind of book I would have read with him in installments, each night before lights out.
